Preposições: Casar-se
Em português, geralmente usamos o verbo “casar-se” seguido da preposição “com”. Em inglês, entretanto, o verbo “MARRY” é geralmente usado sem preposição, como podemos observar nos dois primeiros exemplos a seguir. Quando não houver objeto direto, como no terceiro exemplo, a forma “GET MARRIED” é a mais utilizada. Somente use a preposição “TO” com as formas “GET MARRIED” e “BE MARRIED” quando houver um complemento, como nas frases dos dois últimos exemplos.
Susan married a lawyer.- Susan casou-se com um advogado.
- Will you marry me?
- Quer se casar comigo?
- Susan and Michael got married last summer.
- A Susan e o Michael casaram-se no verão passado.
- He’s been married to Monica for ten years.
- Ele está casado com a Mônica há dez anos.
- Peter got married to Alice in 1989.
- O Peter se casou com a Alice em 1989.
