An offer to do work or provide a service for a particular price, especially when competing with other companies or contractors.

• The government gave the contract for the new highway to the company that submitted the lowest bid.

Their is used to refer to one person, when the sex is not mentioned or not known, to avoid saying ‘his’ or ‘her’.

• If anyone calls, ask for their number and tell them I’ll phone them tomorrow.

SYN – level, limit

The level or limit on a scale. When the threshold is reached something else happens which is usually exciting or new.
