ACCIDENTS HAPPEN (Acidentes acontecem)

Se chegar atrasado para a sua aula de inglês e, para justificar, vier com aquela desculpa batida, "Sorry I'm late. Happened an accident (desculpe-me o atraso, aconteceu um acidente)", tome muito cuidado.

"Happened an accident" é o que chamo de português em inglês, pois as palavras são em inglês porém a estrutura e a gramática são em português. E por que não se pode dizer "happened an accident"? Simples. O verbo "happen" é, em inglês, intransitivo, ou seja, não leva um complemento.

Você poderia dizer "an accident happened" ou, melhor ainda, "there was an accident" (houve um acidente). Está claro agora? I hope so (espero que sim).
