SHOPPING

A palavra “shopping” vem sendo usada há muito tempo no Brasil como sinônimo de centro comercial que congrega lojas, restaurantes, cinemas e estacionamento dentro do mesmo espaço físico. Embora não seja errado dizer “SHOPPING CENTER” em inglês, “SHOPPING MALL” é a forma mais comum nos Estados Unidos. Se você quiser usar apenas uma palavra, diga “MALL”. Na língua inglesa, “SHOPPING” significa, entre outras coisas, o ato de fazer compras.

I usually go shopping once a week, on Saturday mornings.
Costumo fazer compras uma vez por semana, aos sábados de manhã.
Maybe I’ll go to the mall tomorrow and look around.

A expressão “recém-casados” é just married ou newly-weds? Ou ambas estão corretas?

Sim, ambas estão corretas. Mas há uma pequena diferença no uso. Vamos ver se a explico por meio de exemplos. The newly-weds went to Acapulco for their honeymoon (Os recém-casados foram a Acapulco para a lua-de-mel). The couple didn’t leave their room for two weeks as they were just married (O casal não saiu do quarto por duas semanas, pois acabavam de casar).
