What about the suffix “un” ? Is there a rule for that?

For example, look at these words:

predictable – unpredictable
popular – unpopular
attractive – unattractive
reasonable – unreasonable
reliable – unreliable
sociable – unsociable

Thanks in advance! =)

Good question. Check BobK answer here on this link. I found in more than one source that it has to do with the origin of the words. Latinate ones take the “un”, while Germanic ones take “in” (im, ir and il are variations from “in”).
