  • Nós todos ficamos aliviados quando um policial finalmente convenceu a mulher a não pular da ponte.

Oops, eu quis dizer “jumping off the bridge”.

No caso do segundo exemplo, “We were all relieved when a policeman finally talked the woman out of jumping from the bridge”, se estivesse escrito “jump off the bridge” também estaria correto?

“Deter” have the same meaning, right?
What about “persuadir”? Talk on? :s
